At Jeffrey A. Miller Hospitality Group, sustainability is not just a side initiative—it’s an essential part of how we think, plan, cook, and serve. It is, in fact, one of our core company values.
We’re proud to share that we’ve been recognized by the Green Restaurant Association as a “3 Star” Certified Green Caterer, becoming the first caterer in the greater Philadelphia region to earn this distinction.
This certification reflects meaningful progress across a wide range of sustainability efforts, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable sourcing, and pollution reduction. More importantly, it reflects our belief that exceptional hospitality and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand.
Why This Matters
Catering large-scale events comes with real environmental challenges. Producing and serving food for hundreds—or sometimes thousands—of guests can create waste in many forms, from excess food and disposable service ware to packaging and transportation impacts.
The environmental impact of these and dozens of other aspects can add up quickly, and that’s a reality we take seriously.
As a company, we believe it’s our responsibility to keep improving the way we operate and to look closely at the systems, habits, and materials that shape our work every day. This certification represents the progress we’ve made so far and the standards we’re continuing to hold ourselves to.
What That Looks Like in Practice
Over the past several years, our team has implemented a wide range of initiatives across our commissary kitchens, operations, and event service practices, including:
- Comprehensive recycling programs for glass, metal, and paper
- Expanded use of reusable food containers
- Investment in more energy-efficient infrastructure
- Data-driven production planning to minimize food waste
- The elimination of polystyrene foam products and plastic straws
